transtec focuses on new AMD Opteron Server Processors

transtec CALLEO 330 Servers now available with 45 Nm AMD Opteron Processors

13.11.2008 - Servers with the new AMD Processors in 45 Nm production technology are available from today onwards at transtec. The AMD Quad-core Processors for servers were previously codenamed Shanghai. transtec is an OEM partner of AMD and will be presenting a CALLEO twin-board server in one height unit at today's AMD launch event.

Opteron CPUs from the Shanghai generation are the first server processors from AMD based on 45 Nm technology which the company developed together with IBM. In contrast to its predecessors, they deliver the same frequency but with 20 percent more performance and a lower power consumption.

The transtec CALLEO 330 series includes AMD-based high-performance servers for companies and public institutions. They can be configured with up to four AMD Quad-core Processors and with SSD, SAS or S-ATA hard drives. transtec CALLEO 330 Servers offer flexible application options and are available in one, two or four height units, in a tower or installed in a rackmount.

"We have tested the new AMD Opteron Processors and can confirm the boost in power in comparison to the Barcelona generation. Customers looking for maximum performance and fast storage connection profit most from these new CPUs", explains Ute Riester, Product Manager at transtec. "We have already won the first large contracts in the cluster sector".

transtec is now shipping all CALLEO 330 Servers with the new AMD Processors. More information on the transtec servers can be found at GOweb: CALLEO330AMD
