CAD ergonomics: transtec launches 3-D mice
All transtec workstations can be ordered with 3-D mice from 3Dconnexion.26.09.2008 - With immediate effect, all transtec workstations are available with 3-D mice from 3Dconnexion. The workstation PC output and 3-D mice functions improve the CAD construction process (Computer-Aided Drawing). With this offer, the Tübingen-based manufacturer is addressing engineers and designers.
The transtec graphic workstations are designed for the areas of CAD, animation and image processing. Whether with Intel Xeon quad core processors or models from the AMD Opteron 2000 range, state-of-the-art high-performance processors ensure high output. The graphic cards are also adapted for working on CAD models. Thanks to parallel operation of two PCI express graphic cards, SLITM technology from NVIDIA® accelerates the PC’s graphic performance with the result that even where complex 3-D models are involved, users do not have to make any compromises when it comes to either resolution or performance.
In a survey conducted by 3Dconnexion, 80 per cent of designers indicated that design errors can be remedied faster using 3-D mice. Apart from efficient PCs, 3-D mice are therefore ideal accessories for supporting the CAD process: they display more ergonomic features and avail of more functions, thus permitting more efficient realisation of 3-D models. In the case of 3-D mice from 3Dconnexion, the 3-D model can be rotated, zoomed or moved using a cap while the user’s other hand is free for the standard mouse. Moving the cap forwards, backwards, to the left or right rotates the model in three-dimensional space. When the cap is pulled upwards or moved downwards, the model is enlarged or reduced, respectively, while a tilting movement causes the model to turn on its own axis.
