transtec Servers with Quad-core Opteron Processors
CALLEO 330 Server series now available with the latest AMD technologyTuebingen, April 15. transtec, the hardware manufacturer located in Tuebingen, is offering its CALLEO Server series now with AMD Quad-core Opteron Processors. This makes transtec the first German manufacturer to install these processors codenamed Barcelona in its systems.
The Tuebingen-based company is the official development partner of the American processor specialists. The new quad-core CPUs were tested during the development with transtec high-performance servers. AMD released the quad-core processors from the K10 generation in the middle of September last year. In comparison to it’s predecessor, the 64-bit processors attain far superior results with floating point throughput in SPEC CPU tests due to their faster memory controller and excellent scalability. What’s more, they deliver improved energy efficiency with the dual dynamic power management. This technology allows each processor to reduce its own power consumption without losing on performance.
"Integrated with the new AMD processor technology, our servers now boast even more power reserves particularly in the high-performance segment. The entire configuration of the CALLEO 330 series is adapted to meet these high performance standards", explains Ute Riester, Product Manager at transtec. "The CALLEO 330 Servers are robust and sustainable, the packing density is excellent and the systems are ideal for clustering."
These flexible high-performance servers can be used effectively in many areas ranging from research centres to small and medium-sized businesses. One CALLEO 330 can be configured with up to four quad-core processors. Customers have the option of SSD (Solid State Drive), SAS (Serial Attached Small Computer System Interface) or S-ATA hard disk drives (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) as storage media. The rack servers come in new chassis with one to four height units. A redundant power supply is also possible.
The entry-level model from the CALLEO 330 series is available from 1149 Euros (net end user price) in the following configuration:
