Intel HPC certification ensures interoperability
transtec high-performance computing cluster system receives Intel Cluster Ready certification13.06.2007 - Tübingen-based transtec AG is a leading European provider of clusters and cluster services. Shortly after the start of Intel Cluster Ready program the first transtec HPC system has been certified.
Intel® Cluster Ready certification gives HPC customers the asssurance that their applications will run reliably on certified cluster systems.
“Certification of the transtec HPC cluster is the result of close co-operation between Intel and transtec,“ said Holger Hennig, transtec Competence Center Vice President for Clustering. He continued, “Standardisation and guaranteed interoperability simplify the creation and further development of clusters. For users this means a high degree of operating- and maintenance reliability.“
To qualify for Intel certification, HPC clusters must meet stringent requirements. “The testing procedure for certification is complex and time consuming. We are pleased to be able to offer our customers HPC clusters that have passed these tests. They can now be surer than ever that they have chosen the right partner,“ explained Ertu Uysal, Managing Director of transtec. In the coming months additional transtec HPC clusters will be certified as Intel Cluster Ready.
Central to the Intel® Cluster Ready program is the specification that sets the standards for cluster hardware and interoperability. The hardware certification process utilises the Intel® Cluster Checker, a tool which checks cluster components to ensure they interoperate correctly and meet the prescribed specifications. The Cluster Ready program also includes certification and labelling, as well as a forum that allows OEMs, hardware and software vendors and dealers to exchange information.
