transtec one step ahead with new PCs based on NVIDIA Business Platform 2007

transtec SENYO 501 and 801 models are guaranteed image stable for twelve months

Tübingen, 31 October, 2006
With the introduction of the SENYO 501 and 801 models transtec has become one of the first manufacturer in Europe to offer PCs based on the new NVIDIA Business Platform 2007. The twelve-month image stable guarantee for the transtec SENYO 501 and SENYO 801 means that IT departments have the security that no changes need be made in the original configuration for at least twelve months.

Explaining the importance of stable images for firms, Milka Kriegel-stein, transtec product manager, said, “Image stability allows IT ad-mins to concentrate on supporting a single stable platform, reduces the number of disk images needed and consequently lowers support overhead. “

NVIDIA, a leading manufacturer of chipsets and graphics processors, designed the stable image Business Platform with the aim specifying the configuration of hardware and drivers in such a way that they can be deployed without change over a 12-month period. This means that IT admins can create one image of drivers, operating system and applications and copy it, without changes, to newly acquired PCs.

The small-footprint transtec SENYO 501, based on the AMD Athlon 64 processor, was designed for use in networked environments. Prices start at 510 euro. Based on the AMD Athlon 64 X2 processor, the transtec SENYO 801 provides the power needed for CPU-intensive applications. It is available in highly-scalable mini- and midi-tower versions with prices beginning at 520 euro. Both SENYO mod-els employ the NVIDIA® Quadro® NVS 210S GPU and northbridge, the NVIDIA® nForce® 430 MCP southbridge and onboard sound and Gigabit Ethernet. System memory is expandable to over 4 GB DDR2-667 SDRAM. In addition, the NVIDIA ActiveArmor firewall, part of Business Platform 2007, provides protection against hacker attacks and spyware.

transtec plans to introduce Linux versions of both SENYO models in four to six weeks.
