transtec catalogue completely revamped
Magalogue, the new transtec catalogue, combines the best features of a magazine and catalogueTuebingen, 12 May 2005.
Visitors to this year’s CeBIT in Hanover will be able to sample transtec‘s completely redesigned catalogue. It goes by the name Magalogue, and, in our modest opinion, there is none such in the German IT sector.
Those acquainted with the old transtec catalogue will recognise many familiar features while being pleasantly surprised by the innovations introduced, first and foremost of these being the concept which gives Magalogue its name: the combination of MAGazine-like articles, written in the style of demanding journalism, with the latest information on transtec products and solutions compiled in a traditional CataLOGUE format.
The first section, the magazine, is called transVision. transVision has enjoyed a successful independent existence for some time. While the catalogue part has been given a completely new name, tecLog, it continues to include the popular transtec IT Compendium. The transtec IT Compendium has made a name for itself as a concise and clear cut reference for IT terminology and concepts.
The catalogue section tecLog is unusual in that transtec has forgone detailed lists of product features in favour of expanded descriptions of areas of application and technological background. The rationale behind this innovation is the fact that the features of all products listed in the catalogue are readily available in the online catalogue on transtec’s Web site. To facilitate reference, products listed in the tecLog section of Magalogue have been provided with so-called Web codes, which can be entered on the transtec Web site to call up product details as well as the latest prices. All in all, a successful attempt at mating a print medium, with its sweeping overview, with the electronic depth of the Internet, in this case the transtec Web shop.
Magalogue will appear in an edition of 65,000 copies in German, English and French.
